  • Valley Environmental Summit 10th Annual Video Contest
    Valley Environmental Summit

“The Plastic Waste Reduction: Reducing Our Dependence on Plastics”

Here is your opportunity to produce a video and inspire the world to protect our environment. We invite Rio Grande Valley High School Students to participate in our Video Contest. This year’s theme is “The Plastic Waste Reduction: Reducing Our Dependency on Plastics.” More plastic was produced over the last 10 years than during the entire 20th century. About half of that is single-use plastic and is thrown away immediately after use. It is estimated that about one trillion (1,000 billion) plastic bags are used worldwide every year. This is more than one million bags a minute. One plastic bag has an average usable life of just 15 minutes. In the United States alone, more than 60 million plastic bottles are thrown away every day. What can you do to reduce our dependence on plastics and reduce our plastic waste?

  • Valley Environmental Summit 10th Annual Art Contest
    Valley Environmental Summit

“Marine Debris: Protect and Restore Our Beaches,Oceans, and Waterways”

Marine debris, also known as marine litter, is human-created waste that has deliberately or
accidentally been released in a lake, sea, ocean, or waterway. We must to our part to help
keep our lakes, oceans, seas, and oceans clean from debris and contamination!

Teachers, encourage your students to participate in the 10th Annual Art Contest from the
Valley Environmental Summit. Have your students use their creative art work to
showcase how we help combat marine debris.

  • 2019-2020 Visitor Sign-In Requirements

All visitors to Point Isabel ISD campuses will need a form of photo identification to get into the school buildings during instructional hours. Campuses have Raptor vSoft Visitor Management Software installed at the main entrance of all four schools. This software will help track visitors, contractors, and volunteers at school, by providing a safer environment for all.

    Raptor

The system works by scanning a government-issued identification such as a driver’s license into the computer. Connected to the Internet, the office personnel can then determine whether the visitor is listed on a sex offender registry. That information then will allow the front office to follow district procedures and determine whether or not the visitor should be allowed into the school. A sticker bearing the visitor’s name and photo then is printed and must be worn during the entire campus visit.
