Point Isabel ISD School Board Resolution
The Point Isabel ISD School Board of Trustees held an Emergency Board Meeting on July 10, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom to discuss the plan for the opening of schools for the fall of 2020. During the public audience section of the meeting, numerous educators, parents, and community members spoke of concerns with opening schools with face-to-face instruction due to the increase in positive COVID-19 in Cameron County and the Laguna Madre area. l, Superintendent of Schools, Teri Capistran requested for the board to pass a resolution as follows:
“The Point Isabel Independent School District shall remain closed for on-campus, face-to-face instruction for all school-age students and shall not reopen for face-to-face instruction until further discussion and determination by the Board that it is safe for our students, faculty, and staff to return.”
The Point Isabel ISD school board unanimously approved the motion. Point Isabel ISD will continue working with the Return to Learn Task Force Committee members to provide all students with the best instruction possible while ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff members.
