PORT ISABEL EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER SECURES VICTORY AT SANTA MARIA TOURNAMENT

Santa Maria,Texas [January, 6, 2024] – The Port Isabel Early College High School Boys Soccer Team has emerged triumphant at the Santa Maria Tournament, showcasing exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition.

In a thrilling journey to the top, our Tarpons clinched the tournament title with a remarkable 2-1 victory over IDEA Quest. The road to victory was paved with impressive performances:

  • Port Isabel vs. IDEA Weslaco Pike: The boys kicked off the tournament on a high note, defeating IDEA Weslaco Pike with a commanding 3-0 score.

  • Port Isabel vs. La Feria: In a closely contested match, our team demonstrated resilience but faced a narrow 2-3 defeat against La Feria.

  • Port Isabel vs. IDEA Sports Park: The team showed strength in defense, securing a crucial 0-0 draw against IDEA Sports Park, solidifying their position in the bracket.

  • Semi-Final: Port Isabel vs. IDEA Frontier: The Tarpons battled fiercely in the semi-final, emerging victorious with a narrow 1-0 win against IDEA Frontier, earning them a well-deserved spot in the final.

  • Championship Match: Port Isabel vs. IDEA Quest: The grand finale saw the Tarpons in top form, as they triumphed over IDEA Quest with a score of 2-1, ultimately claiming the Santa Maria Tournament Championship.

Coach Ortiz and Coach Gaucin commended the team for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament.
