Port Isabel, Texas, January 12, 2024 – Point Isabel Independent School District (PI-ISD) is closely monitoring updates on the Arctic Blast forecasted to impact the Rio Grande Valley during the week of January 15-19, 2024. In response to the Arctic advisory, the district is implementing precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families.
Class Cancellation:
On Tuesday, January 16, 2024 Classes will be cancelled.

2-Hour Delay and Schedule Adjustments:
On Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, all district schedules will experience a 2-hour delay. Bus routes will also be subject to the 2-hour delay. ACE morning programs will be cancelled, and PI-ISD campuses and facilities will remain closed before designated instructional start times.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning from 11 PM Monday to 10 AM Tuesday morning and a wind chill warning in our Laguna Madre area until 3 PM Tuesday. We strongly urge families to prioritize safety and seek shelter if needed.
