At the April board meeting, Port Isabel Junior High School students were recognized for their selection in a nationwide writing contest!
These talented students earned publication in the National “Fright Club” Writing Competition, hosted by Young Writers. This prestigious honor highlights their creativity, originality, and engaging storytelling, with their work selected for inclusion in a national anthology.
We are proud of their outstanding achievement and representation of Port Isabel Junior High. Thank you to Ms. Elma Ruiz for her guidance and support!

Congratulations to Katalayah Mota Reyes and Miranda Canales for earning a rating of 3, and to Elizabeth Hable, Mackie Mayfield, Kinley Pust, and Lorelei Hall for earning an impressive rating of 4 (Exemplary)!
A special recognition goes to Lorelei Hall, who achieved the highest honor with a Platinum rating—an award given to less than 10% of top entries statewide.
We are incredibly proud of these students for their creativity, technical skill, and ability to communicate their artistic process. Thank you to Mrs. Jamie Hall for her guidance and support!

🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Port Isabel Early College High School Cafeteria
Each qualifying student’s meal is provided. Parent tickets are available for $10 each and must be purchased by Friday, May 1. Please note that tickets will not be sold at the door, and all attendees must have a ticket.
Each qualifying student is allowed to purchase up to 4 tickets (includes 1 for student). If you need additional tickets, you may request to be placed on a waiting list. After Wednesday, we will begin contacting families on the waiting list if extra tickets become available for purchase.
