At Point Isabel ISD, our school counselors are dedicated to supporting the whole child. Counselors work to eliminate barriers to student success by facilitating access to information, resources, and support services tailored to each student’s academic, personal, social, and career needs.

One of the primary goals of our school counselors is to support students in achieving academic success. Below are the ways we provide resources and guidance to help students prepare for excellence in high school and for future college and career pathways.

Responsive Services are a vital component of the Guidance and Counseling Department, focused on addressing students’ immediate personal, social, and academic needs through both preventive and intervention strategies.
Counselors provide short-term support through individual and small-group services to help students overcome challenges that may affect their learning, personal development, or future goals. In collaboration with parents, educators, campus staff, and community partners, counselors work to ensure students receive the appropriate support and resources needed to succeed from PreK through 12th grade.

Point Isabel ISD currently has one Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a team of at-risk administrators who provide additional student support services.

Point Isabel ISD school counselors actively engage in community outreach to strengthen partnerships that support student success. By collaborating with local organizations, agencies, and stakeholders, counselors connect students and families to valuable resources, services, and enrichment opportunities. These efforts help extend learning beyond the classroom, promote student well-being, and ensure families have access to the support needed to foster academic achievement, personal growth, and college and career readiness.
In accordance with Texas Education Code and legislation from the 89th Texas Legislative Session, certain counseling and school-based services require annual parental or guardian consent.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) distinguishes between:
Opt-In Services – Services that require written parental consent prior to participation
Opt-Out Services – Services provided unless a parent or guardian declines participation
Some services may be provided without prior consent in cases of emergency, health and safety concerns, or as part of routine general caretaking responsibilities.
Point Isabel ISD is committed to maintaining transparency and partnering with families. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review consent information annually and contact their campus counselor with any questions.
