Thank you to State Representative Janie Lopez for visiting PIISD and generously donating calendars to our school district. We appreciate your continued support of our students, staff, and Tarpon community.

We honor and remember Jimmy Vela of Port Isabel, a dedicated servant of our community and a true Tarpon at heart. Jimmy faithfully served on the Point Isabel ISD School Board for two terms, always advocating for our students, staff, and families. His commitment to education and his unwavering support for the Tarpon community left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

Jimmy was more than a board member; he was a steadfast supporter, a familiar face, and a champion for the people of Port Isabel. His contributions helped shape our schools and strengthened the spirit of our community.

He will be deeply missed and forever appreciated.

May he rest in peace.

💙🎉 RETENTION STIPEND APPROVED! 🎉💙 At the December Board Meeting, the Point Isabel ISD Board of Trustees proudly approved a retention stipend in appreciation of our amazing staff. ✔️ $750 for all certified and classified personnel employed from August 18, 2025–December 1, 2025 ✔️ $350 for personnel hired after December 1, 2025 This stipend reflects our continued commitment to recognizing the dedication, hard work, and loyalty of our Tarpon team and investing in a positive, supportive work environment. Thank you, Tarpons, for all that you do! 💙

🎄🚂 All Aboard the Tarpon Polar Express! 🚂🎄

Join Derry Elementary for a magical evening filled with fun and Christmas spirit! Santa and his elves will be there, and we invite everyone to help “fill the Tarpon Polar Express” with toy donations for our community.

As a thank-you, guests who donate a toy will receive a free Polar Express gift (a special bell with a card in a gift bag, while supplies last).

We have some District Champions. First, gallant effort by our secret weapon Kiana Duran going 2-1 and missing the finals losing to her teammate Judith Sanchez taking silver in an exciting 6-4 final. Marlen Romero lost 6-5 to eventual champ and big congratulations to our 2025 Seventh grade Grade Girls Doubles Gold medals champions, Sanaya Lane and Sara Leon!! Go Tarpons!! We had courts full of Tarpons in finals!!!

Tamalada Day for our Tarpons was truly something special today. 🌽💙 Chef Galindo didn’t just teach our Culinary Arts students how to make tamales—she passed down a cherished tradition filled with culture, family, and love. Our students learned the history, the technique, and the heart behind this timeless craft. Thank you, Chef, for creating such a meaningful experience and reminding our Tarpons that food connects us, teaches us, and brings us together. 💛
