At the April board meeting, Port Isabel Junior High School students were recognized for their selection in a nationwide writing contest!

These talented students earned publication in the National “Fright Club” Writing Competition, hosted by Young Writers. This prestigious honor highlights their creativity, originality, and engaging storytelling, with their work selected for inclusion in a national anthology.

We are proud of their outstanding achievement and representation of Port Isabel Junior High. Thank you to Ms. Elma Ruiz for her guidance and support!

At the April regular board meeting, we proudly recognized Port Isabel Junior High students for their outstanding achievements in Junior VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), a Texas Art Education Association program celebrating creativity and artistic growth.

Congratulations to Katalayah Mota Reyes and Miranda Canales for earning a rating of 3, and to Elizabeth Hable, Mackie Mayfield, Kinley Pust, and Lorelei Hall for earning an impressive rating of 4 (Exemplary)!

A special recognition goes to Lorelei Hall, who achieved the highest honor with a Platinum rating—an award given to less than 10% of top entries statewide.

We are incredibly proud of these students for their creativity, technical skill, and ability to communicate their artistic process. Thank you to Mrs. Jamie Hall for her guidance and support!

Point Isabel ISD Safety Update: Tarpon community, A PIISD school bus transporting students from Port Isabel Junior Higb School was involved in an accident this afternoon, April 17, 2026, at approximately 3:50 PM involving a passenger car on HWY 100. Parents have been notified and the students have been evaluated by EMTs. The occupants of the car were transported by EMS to a local hospital. Local law-enforcement agencies are investigating the accident with assistance from Point Isabel ISD police. Thank you for your understanding and support, Point Isabel ISD Administration
