Port Isabel ECHS students Elizabeth Grajales and Saturn Trejo, selected from a consortium of nine rural schools, are participating in the Advanced Clinical Research Institute (ACRI), hosted in partnership with Region One and DHR Health. The program offers immersive, hands-on training in injections, suturing, blood draws, physical exams, wound care, prescription interpretation, pharmacy abbreviations, and vital sign assessment. Students are also learning directly from experienced doctors, surgeons, and medical staff, gaining real-world insights into clinical practice. In addition to clinical training, participants will earn stackable credentials such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Stop the Bleed, helping them build a strong foundation for future medical certifications. This opportunity reflects Point Isabel ISD’s vision of empowering all students through rigorous, real-world learning experiences that prepare them for college, career, and beyond.

🌟 Big Congrats to Alejandra Rivera! 🌟 Port Isabel Early College High School junior Alejandra Rivera was selected as one of only 100 students nationwide to represent UTRGV Upward Bound Port Isabel at the 2025 National Student Leadership Congress (NSLC) in Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸✨ This prestigious five-day leadership experience took place June 15–19, and we are so proud of Alejandra for her hard work and dedication. Congratulations to PIECHS Elle Wall for earning the crown in the 15-16 Heptathlon at the AAU Region 19 Championships in Van Ormy, Tx. 7 events in 2 days.. way to go Champ! She earned a spot in the AAU Junior Olympic Championships at the end of July in Houston.
